Here in Jackson we are fully immersed in the fun, the heat, the sunshine and the crowds of mid-July. With 4th of July behind us, we hope you are contemplating the many weeks of summer activities that lie ahead.
We here at the Pilates Place understand how hectic this time of year can be, and to that end we want to announce a few changes to our group class schedule. Our Wednesday evening mixed level Mat & Apparatus class is suspended until after Labor Day. Stay tuned to our fall newsletter for resumption dates on the evening and weekend classes!
Beginning on Wednesday, July 20th we will offer a series of weekly, 90 minute special Franklin Method® movement classes taught by Jill Reich. Every Wednesday, for 4 weeks, from 2:00 to 3:30pm Jill will teach a 90 minute class incorporating the Franklin Method® techniques to help you learn and move in a more focused way. Topics will range from "The Foot" and "The Knee" to "How Your Head Sits on Your Spine". These classes will not be specific to Pilates, but to how we move in any context, sport or pursuit; and then can be applied accordingly.
The Franklin Method® is about learning how we are actually designed to function, how bones/muscles/organs works together to function efficiently, and how the mind is always part of the context. It about paying attention to how we are using our bodies when we exercise, train, and move. The Franklin Method® teaches the practical elements of body design by focusing on imagery, self-touch and movement exercises that can be used by anyone in any setting. Through the use of dynamic imagery and anatomical embodiment we aim to promote better movement, flexibility, strength and general health for the mind and body.
Please call us at 307-732-2292, or go on-line to register for your space in one or all of these very special classes. The cost will be $30 for one class, or $100 for all four.
Many of you have asked if another Pilates Retreat could be offered in a different location (since Cascina Papaveri closed in 2014). The answer is a resounding "Yes"! Michele is currently researching a Pilates and Meditation Retreat for November or December 2016 in Historic San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
San Miguel de Allende is a colonial city located in the state of Guanajuato, central Mexico; 270 miles from Mexico City. The main attraction of the town is its historic city center with buildings and narrow cobbled streets from the 17th and 18th Century. The city and it Sanctuary of Atoetonilco were named World Heritage Sites in 2008 by Unesco.
Our retreat will be held in a private home and will include daily guided Meditation classes, Pilates class, Mexican cooking classes and plenty of time for touring the architecture, culture and history of the city, as well as visiting markets which draw farmers and indigenous artisans from the surrounding countryside.
