I read an article about the AlignMed Posture Shirt in USAToday, and due to long term low back issues, I immediately did research on both the product and the company. It seemed like a product that had great potential and the company seemed very reliable. After receiving and wearing my shirt for about a week, I began noticing a significant difference in my back pain - it was practically gone! I wear it for a couple of hours each day and am a total convert. This is a great product for anyone suffering from back pain, poor posture, and who just generally wants to improve their alignment. I highly recommend!

Upcoming Eric Franklin Method Workshop
The Pilates Place is pleased to host the first ever workshop in the Eric Franklin Method, held in the Northern Intermountain West. Jill Wolf, a Level 3 Trainer in the Franklin Method is our presenter (see bio). The workshop will be held October 9, 10 & 11, Friday through Sunday.
Friday, October 9, 4:00 - 6:30 pm
Pelvic Power: This Eric Franklin Method® workshop focuses on learning and experiencing the balanced actions and functional movements of the pelvis. We will look at the bones and joints that make up the pelvic girdle and explore the actions of the muscles and joints by experiencing their natural bone rhythms in support of healthy function. With the application of imagery techniques, this complex subject matter is delivered in a way that makes it tangible through the experiential approach. Be prepared to have a new sense of aligned strength through the pelvis and how that translates to other parts of the body.
Saturday, October 10, 9:00 - 11:30 am
Relax your Neck - Liberate your Shoulders: This workshop focuses the design and function of the shoulder girdle. Through Franklin Method ® techniques of imagery, touch and movement exercises we will learn how to lengthen and balance shoulder and neck musculature and melt away tension and associated mental anxiety. The shoulder girdle is designed for freedom of movement and self-expression. Be prepared to learn how the neck can be free and how to have suspended, free and easy shoulders.
Sunday, October 11, 9:00 - 11:30 am
Breathing for Life: Have you ever considered the quality of your breathing? Or is our breathing something we take for granted? This is something we do 24/7 and keeps us alive, so why not learn to do it really well. Science has literally shown that breathing better has a positive influence on numerous aspects of our lives; from better digestion to improved circulation; from improvement in our poise and presence to a calming of the mind. This Eric Franklin Method® focuses on the mechanics of respiration and invites participants to discover ways to embody a more complete breath. Be prepared to feel more present, calm and energized from within after this class.
You may be wondering why you're not seeing Pam in the studio much. She now has a full-time job at St. John's Episcopal Church as their Parish Life Coordinator. Though it has been a tough transition for her, she still comes in to the studio to teach on Mondays and really loves seeing everyone. She really misses being in the studio and hopes to be able to keep teaching Pilates, even if it's just a few hours here and there. Pam did get to go the PMA in San Diego last November with Michele. When she's not working at St. John's or at the studio, she is busy with her son, Eric, who is now 12 and really having a fun, casual summer.
Marisol Sullivan completed her coursework at University of Utah earlier this spring and then left for Peru with Josh where they spent the late spring leading climbing courses there. She will be returning to Jackson in July and August, helping visitors achieve their dreams of climbing in the Tetons. You may also see her around the studio a bit more this summer as well.
