Following a very rainy month of May, our beautiful valley is bursting with wildflowers, new green leaves, baby bison and melting snow. We want to welcome back all of our summer residents, as well as visitors to our special area of the country. Many of you know our dear friends and clients, Shelley & Kelly Rubrecht, a musical husband and wife duo who have entertained in and around the valley for decades. Kelly is now a resident at St. John's Living Center and facing the cost of long-term medical care, they need our help. The following is information about a benefit and fund set up to help direct support to he and his family. Please plan to attend the Benefit if you can, or if not, go to the website and make a donation.
Upcoming Eric Franklin Method Workshop
The Pilates Place is pleased to host the first ever workshop in the Eric Franklin Method, held in the Northern Intermountain West. Jill Wolf, a Level 3 Trainer in the Franklin Method is our presenter (see bio). The workshop will be held August 28-30, 2015. More specific details about times and cost will be included in our next newsletter. In addition, you can contact Michele Dorsey at email@example.com further details.
Encompassed in the Eric Franklin Method is the concept of reconditioning Movement which integrates dynamic imagery with experiential anatomy to produce optimum function. One of the greatest discoveries of the 21st century is the plasticity of the brain; that the lives we live shape the brain we develop. Franklin Method is at the forefront of practical neuro-plasticity; showing you how to use your brain to improve your body’s function. It teaches you how to harness the transforming power of the mind. It can be applied to improve all of your abilities. It all starts with the knowledge that we have the power to change. We are not reinventing the wheel, we are simply connecting the spokes — body/mind, posture, breath, health, imagery and motivation. We bring together the disciplines of western and eastern science, sports psychology and somatics into a clear and practical format that professionals and laypeople alike can use. You can use this know-how to reach your full potential. Franklin Method makes you fit for life.
This workshop is appropriate and would be beneficial for Instructors of all types of movement and fitness training, practitioners of all movement modalities, physical therapist, occupational therapists, massage therapists, licensed counselors and anyone interested in holistic health and movement.
Hilary Smith is excited to be back in Jackson Hole after an extraordinary experience living abroad in Jakarta, Indonesia. While there, in addition to teaching both expats and locals, she had the opportunity to study with Alan Herdman, Blossom Leilani Crawford, and Carolyn Anthony. She has also just returned from a workshop with Cara Reeser, of the Kathy Grant lineage, whom she studied with in 2011. Adding to her Pilates and Massage Therapy offerings, Hilary is also a Health and Wellness Coach, helping people become healthier through nutritional supplementation and lifestyle coaching. One of these programs is a 30 day nutrition challenge, which can be done individually, with your own group, or an on-line group. Ask Hilary or check out her website for the challenge: hilary.sexyfitnutritionchallenge.com. We are so excited to have Hilary back in our studio, teaching and sharing with all of us this summer!
Kim Armington is so excited to continue with her re-connection to the Jackson Hole Community! She has recently purchased a place of her own and now feels like a real resident again. Kim continues her work as a PTA at Four Pines Physical Therapy, and continues to enhance the experience of her clients at The Pilates Place with her excellent knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology and Pilates. She is looking forward to another exciting and fun-filled summer in Jackson Hole.
Tina Roberts worked in the Chugach mountains at Alaska Rendezvous Heli-Ski Guides as a server in the bar/restaurant and in housekeeping, during March and April this spring. "The crew of about 30 employees came to be like family to me, I had such a blast and really made some great new friends. My brothers were able to come up for four days and we had the best time together--it was really special! Can't wait to go back next year!"
Tina will be working in the studio a bit more this summer, besides working at the Hospital and for the Teton Village District office. In addition she has a few weddings to attend--five to go to this summer, including her brother's that she is officiating!!
Kristin Painter along with her Mother and Daughter, visited Washington DC over spring break. We learned tons about American History and visited many of the Smithsonian Museums, and were even able to visit the White House. Kristin attended the annual Pilates Retreat Weekend at Streamline Pilates in Salt Lake City in May. The Presenters were Cara Reeser (Kathy Grant legacy teacher) and Jeremy Laverdure. In the workshop the focus was training freedom and support in the neck and shoulders. This summer Kristin's daughter Acacia, will attend a summer ski camp at Mt. Hood. Kristin continues the rigorous training in The Pilates Center Masters Program with workshops and personal study.
Michele and Pam are committed to keep serving the community of Jackson through Pilates and GYROTONIC® and to that end, Pam continues to teach in the studio on Mondays, despite a full-time schedule at her new job as Parish Life Coordinator at St. John's Church. Michele attended the annual Pilates Method Alliance Conference in San Diego last November, and returned to the studio with renewed enthusiasm for the healing properties of the method she has been dedicated to for almost 20 years now. In addition, Michele completed her re-certification requirement for her GYROTONIC® Level I Certified Teacher License in 2015, and plans to complete her GYROTONIC® Level II Certified Teacher License in 2016.
