A new chapter at The Pilates Place...

Michele Dorsey and Pam Woodson are pleased to announce an exciting new chapter at The Pilates Place. We’ve decided to list our Pilates & Gyrotonic® studio for sale with a local real estate agent. The time has come to pass the torch to a new owner who will carry on our tradition of excellence, while adding their own passion for innovation. Please read on, to find out more about how we arrived at this decision.

In 1999 I entered The Pilates Center Teacher Training program in Boulder, Colorado; not knowing how deeply it would change my life. While enrolled there I met many wonderful and inspiring teachers and trainees, among them Susanne Staehr and Pam Woodson.  When I graduated and received my certification in 2000, I opened my own studio with the support of my husband and the encouragement of many friends, especially Bill & Robin Weiss.

Soon after Pam and Susanne completed their training, the three of us began to discuss opening a studio together. On December 15, 2001, Pam, Susanne and myself opened The Pilates Place in its original location downtown. We had support and help from so many early clients and friends, especially Fred & Jeanie Staehr. Two years later we moved into the Eagle Village Building at Smith’s, our home ever since.

Seventeen years ago we could not have imagined what a rewarding and profound journey this would be.  The clients and teachers who participated in and supported our venture in health and wellness, have become cherished friends. Thanks to the referrals from our loyal clients, we were able to survive and even thrive during the severe economic recession that began in late 2008.  Despite steep competition in the fitness sector in Jackson, we continue to be a financially viable and successful studio.  I am proud of our hard-earned reputation and community respect.

As most of you know, Susanne Staehr moved to San Francisco in 2004, where she has built a life and a career as a Pilates Educator. In 2014 Pam Woodson took a full-time job at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Michele Dorsey is now ready to open the door to a new Instructor/Owner at The Pilates Place, and plans to continue teaching during a potential transition, to ensure a seamless experience for the Instructors and clients.

Pam or myself would be happy to answer any questions you might have, so feel free to call or e-mail either of us at the contacts listed below. Again, we appreciate and care deeply for all of you and look forward to sharing the next chapter with you.

With Gratitude and Best Regards, Pam & Michele
