Pelvic Power: This Eric Franklin Method® workshop focuses on learning and experiencing the balanced actions and functional movements of the pelvis. We will look at the bones and joints that make up the pelvic girdle and explore the actions of the muscles and joints by experiencing their natural bone rhythms in support of healthy function. With the application of imagery techniques, this complex subject matter is delivered in a way that makes it tangible through the experiential approach. Be prepared to have a new sense of aligned strength through the pelvis and how that translates to other parts of the body.
Saturday, October 10, 9:00 - 11:30 am
Relax your Neck - Liberate your Shoulders: This workshop focuses on the design and function of the shoulder girdle. Through Franklin Method ® techniques of imagery, touch and movement exercises we will learn how to lengthen and balance shoulder and neck musculature and melt away tension and associated mental anxiety. The shoulder girdle is designed for freedom of movement and self-expression. Be prepared to learn how the neck can be free and how to have suspended, free and easy shoulders.
Sunday, October 11, 9:00 - 11:30 am
Breathing for Life: Have you ever considered the quality of your breathing? Or is our breathing something we take for granted? This is something we do 24/7 and keeps us alive, so why not learn to do it really well. Science has literally shown that breathing better has a positive influence on numerous aspects of our lives; from better digestion to improved circulation; from improvement in our poise and presence to a calming of the mind. This Eric Franklin Method® focuses on the mechanics of respiration and invites participants to discover ways to embody a more complete breath. Be prepared to feel more present, calm and energized from within after this class.
This week is the transition from August to September and though Summer officially lasts until September 22nd, 2015, many of our summer residents will be leaving Jackson before that date. Despite the warm temperatures and our fond hopes for a lovely prolonged Indian Summer, we all realize that seasonal weather changes are in store for us. All of us here at The Pilates Place hope that you have had plenty of time in Nature as well as enjoyable time with your family and visitors this summer. As the pace of our Valley begins to slow, we hope you take time for yourself and that a renewed commitment to your own health includes a visit to our studio. Here are some of the things you can look forward to this fall at the Pilates Place: our website is "under construction" and very soon we will have a beautiful, functional, new look on the world wide web, for your perusal. In addition our fall class schedule resumes in September with the resumption of Ski Fitness, Pilates Circuit, Saturday class offerings and evening classes. Be sure to check our on-line schedule for a complete Mat and Apparatus class schedule, as well as availability for Instructor schedules for private sessions in Pilates and GYROTONIC®. Don't forget, the $40 TUNE-UP SPECIAL PRIVATE is always available for those who purchase a 10-punch of group class sessions! To our Summer clients we wish you a very happy and healthy winter season and can't wait to see you next spring. To our local residents, we look forward to seeing you more frequently, when the hectic summer season winds down. Remember, our team of Instructors are here every day, all year round to help you with your health, wellness and fitness goals. Michele, Pam, Kristin, Hilary, Tina and Kim
